Towards the end of April I began focusing on the details of my stay. I had heard a lot of good things about the restaurant Frenchie, just a couple of blocks from my apartment, so I looked at availability. There were only two days free for the entire month of June, one of which was during the visit by Matt and Chris. I texted them and asked whether they would be interested. By a weird coincidence Chris was looking at the restaurant’s web site at the same moment! We decided to accept what fate seemed to be telling us and made a reservation for Monday, June 1.

There was a crowd waiting to get in to a Frenchie door on its little alley but it turned out to be the wine bar across the street from the restaurant. We were seated promptly at the restaurant, at a perfect table in the front window.

Chris ordered a la carte, while Matt and I took the four-course chef’s selection, each course paired with a half-glass of wine. We each paid about 110 euros, which was a lot less daunting than it would have been last year due to the fall in the euro. I’ve had some nice meals in Paris but I would have to say that this was the best ever.  Without more ado, let the food porn (and waiter porn!) begin.

Good luck getting a reservation, but well worth the effort!
